2Welcome to our first Second Bloom Design newsletter.  It has definitely been a journey to get to this point in our business.  From the weekend that we loaded our truck with all of the doors and other salvage from my grandparent's farmhouse to 4 years later, a business has blossomed.

As we enjoy the warmth of summer, one of my fondest summer memories is the time I spent on my grandparent's screened in porch.   Many stories and lots of laughter were shared there.  I like to believe that the pieces of furniture created from their farmhouse carry these fond memories, just as every piece we create from parts of other farmhouses, schools and cottages has a story. For Dean, summer evenings spent at Grandpa's place after ballgames in Jackson Park are some of his fondest memories.  His Grandpa Bedell was a blacksmith by trade, a skill that Dean inherited and has now introduced into some of our furniture pieces. We're sure you have a fond summer memory that makes you smile too.   Have a happy and safe summer.

Many thanks,

Sue & Dean

Reclaimed Wooden Skis  3

Check out our water ski bench.  With so many wooden water skis left in sheds and garages, we found a use for them.   Some customers have even used them as coffee tables at their cottages.

This is what we love - creating custom pieces.  From island/servers to coffee tables and cabinets we can take your idea and make a functional piece from architectural salvage and reclaimed wood.

HCustom Benchere is a custom coffee table with drop leaf sides created entirely from 100 year old reclaimed wood.

Another customer ordered two cabinets for a corner in their family room.  These cabinets are made from reclaimed wood and salvaged material.

Harmony of your Senses

How exciting for us to be the only shop outside of the wonderful Cottage North Soapworks shop in Port Dover to be carrying their handcrafted artisan soap.   From Summer Garden, so pretty many want to only display it to Vacation and Kinky Pinky with their wonderful grapefruit scents, it's hard to not buy one of each.  But don't worry; we'll always have a great selection of these artisan soaps.
